I note my sense is finding a school with some form of Calc 3, aka MVC, will likely be easiest. Adding German is certainly possible. Adding OChem, which I personally think is not really necessary, is maybe possible, but adding both German and OChem is going to be very limiting.
So if you could not get all three of MVC, German, and OChem, would you really prefer your current school? Or would you accept MVC and, say, German, if getting OChem as well was not possible?
OP, one thing you should check with any school is how they determine math placement as this seems to be one of the drivers of your decision. It is possible that your pre-calculus preparation is not the same as theirs and that they will place you into something different. In the end, you would probably end up better prepared for college in math, but it may not be what you are anticipating now.
in my experience ochem is never the bottleneck. ochem is actually a common upper level chemistry elective at most boarding schools. its ALWAYS german. pretty much every school i’ve found (except i think maybe shady side) that has german has ochem. but, if i didnt make this that clear, i dont think its worth it for me to leave where i am at right now just to take multivariable, only if they had multi AND ochem, but, again, it doesnt really matter bc of the above.
the only school that, from what i can tell, so dont quote me on this, could plausibly make me repeat precal, is exeter, and if i’m going to exeter idc abt having to repeat precal.
Many - if not all - will have a math (and foreign language) placement test. At Andover it is not uncommon to be placed into the level you finished at your old school.
Huh, I was sure my Alma mater still offered German and it doesn’t - they also have cut Japanese- despite being a bigger school than when I went. Boo. They added nothing in terms of new languages either. Lame.
i mean again if i do repeat precal what do i lose i still get the rigor of a boarding school and graduate having finished calc bc, so i didnt lose anything that my current school has.
