<p>I am a rising junior with aspirations to major in journalism (or possibly pre-med, funny combination I know). </p>
<p>I am in Chicago on vacation and am wondering if it is worth it for me to make the haul to Evanston to tour the journalism school today.</p>
<p>I really like Northwestern, but not the price. Going here would amount to massive student debt, whereas I have a full-ride for undergraduate tuition to any state school. I feel like it would be crazy to turn that down! So this school would have to be pretty amazing to turn me away from that route!</p>
<p>That said, should I bother visiting? Or am I just torturing myself because I can’t afford the tuition?</p>
<p>If you’re in Chicago on vacation, it can’t be anymore than a 45-50 min ride to Evanston. Honestly, you probably can’t find a better school to seek out an interest in journalism with the chance to also follow a medical pursuit. So, why not? It would almost be silly not to - you’re there, and you get a chance to look at a very pretty campus at a great time of the year. </p>
<p>And katie, why hesitate from applying because of finances? For a lowly fee and a chunk of time and effort on your part, you can at least apply. If it doesn’t work out or you don’t get accepted then so be it - at least you tried. If the financial aid is too low then take your scholarship. But perhaps you’ll be shocked at how gracious NU may be, and it IS actually affordable. </p>
<p>Trust me, Northwestern is “pretty amazing,” and Medill just as much so. It’s undeniably worth the visit.</p>

<p>Is there a chance that you will get a financial aid package that will enable you to go there?</p>

<p>Thanks for the advice! I went for it and took a tour today. I’m glad I did! The campus is very beautiful and the tour of Medill was informative. I don’t know if the finances will line up, but I’ll apply for financial aid. It was nice visiting! :)</p>

<p>yeah i was just about to suggest you go visit since for a lot of people the campus is one of the most notable things about NU. I for one think so.</p>
