I received two generous offers that met need (as they see it). I was chosen for verification from UMD, which I would only choose if the other two institutions had breaking Sandusky scandals.

So is it worth the time to verify the documents? I am curious to see what they would offer, but I’d have to sort out/collect the documents myself.

If the schools are not on the table and you really are not going to give up Gtown to attend, let it go, move on. Turn in your card saying thanks, but no thanks opening up one more spot on the waitlist.

Out of pure curiousity, I would not. However, be aware that you can be asked to verify info for the school that you selected as well. I would look at the materials that are being requested for verification and familiarize myself with them. We were selected for verification this year for only Stafford loan monies, and were told that this school automatically does this with OOS kids. So I know we are likely to get the same next year. It was not that onerous, IMO, and I’ll have the stuff at hand this year.

With the data retrieval tool, why is any school doing verification?

I guess a public university wants to ensure that government funding is allocated correctly, even with the DRT.
