Hey!

So I just found out my Top choice for schools hasn’t received authorization yet to give out the i-20 form which basically allows international students like me to apply for a Visa & they’ll get the authorization between now & Fall 2012 (The term I start) so I was just wondering in your opinions is it worth me going through the whole audition & application process if I might not be able to attend?

The school is the Cap 21 conservatory in NY for the record

I say to audition. And audition is experience. In this theatre field you need to get all of the experience you can to grow and learn!
I auditioned for many schools solely based on getting more face time and getting used to the entire auditioning process as a whole.

Hope this helps! :)

It is absolutely worth the trouble, IF money is not a huge concern for traveling to the audition. Also, the Cap 21 program has been replaced by the “New Studio” so you may wanna do some research on that.

Another thing to look at is just about every other school at the unified auditions. Almost all of them can give you excellent training, and many are much more affordable than NYU.

Jake, I think the OP is talking about the CAP21 two year professional certificate program in the conservatory that is NOT associated with NYU.

To the OP, if the program said that they will be authorized or accredited by the fall 2012 semester, it is worth applying as it might work out.

I agree with kylerkays…auditioning is never a waste of time and the audition experience at CAP is a good one. My son is in his first year of the two-year professional program and really loves it. I can’t speak with knowledge about the international visa issue, but if you have any hope of going to CAP at any point in the future, you should definitely audition. The staff/faculty there truly do care about each student and the individual circumstances/situations they bring to the table. Good luck!
