I was going through a thread on here about the SAT’S and ACT’s would it be worth it to redo either test again? As a transfer student? Would it be beneficial?
The general idea is that those are high school tests so taking them again to get a better score won’t really impress anybody. The best way to make up for a bad SAT or ACT is with good college grades. Maybe it might be worth it if you are a freshman not a sophomore, but generally it wouldn’t be that beneficial.
I had a 30 composite when I took it in 2010 with a really poor writing score. When applying for transfer I took it again in 2016 and I got a 32 composite (without studying) with a really good writing score. I don’t think it hurts to re-take it.
@philbegas do you think it provided more funding in a sense of financial aid for you?
I strongly doubt it. 32 ACT generally puts me at the higher side of the avg test scores. Not quite phenomenal enough for them to say “wow he’s a genius” or something like that. HOWEVER, because my high school performance is very poor, I do believe it’s helping in my favor to prove I"m not just lazy or an idiot or whatever a transfer adcom thinks when they see low high school grades.
