Is it worth taking a course over again?

If I get a B in an intro class, will it matter for med school or not if I retake it over again? It will not erase the grade, it will just add a second grade. What if I got multiple B’s? What if it’s a C? What if it’s just one B?

Thanks.

Taking a class over just because you got a B is a huge waste of time. Yes, you want to keep your GPA up, but grad schools would rather see a decent GPA with tons of involvement outside of the classroom than someone would used their time to retake courses for a perfect 4.0.

MD Med school admissions will see the B and the grade you retake. DO schools will only see the retake.

retaking for a B is a waste of time. Don’t worry about it and move on.

Many schools won’t allow you to retake a class if you got anything above a C-.

ok thats a relief. what about a C?

I’ve never had experience with taking a class over but maybe they would see a motivated student; a good sign that someone was willing to put effort into getting a higher grade or possibly trying to learn more?

To me it says that they were just trying to game the GPA system and not learn anything, but I guess I’m not a grad school adcom.
