Hey guys, I know that SAT scores are not the one thing that gets you into colleges and colleges like UPenn look at an applicant as a whole but are my SAT scores to low for it being worth to spend the $75 application fee for a chance at admission.
I want to apply to UPenn SEAS Computer engineering
SATI(superscored): 2070 (660CR) (720M) (690W)
SATII: 790 MathII, will take physics soon
Your SAT is at or below the 25th percentile in two out of three sections. (http://www.upenn.edu/ir/commondataset.html First link, section C)
If you want to save your money, I would, personally, probably find other, more “sure-thing” schools. This will be a big reach.
SEAS is about as competitive as Wharton these days. Unless you have something really strong that stands out about you, it would be an extreme long shot. If your other credentials are strong, then I would try to bring up your SAT I if you are considering applying. Your 790 Math II suggests you can do better.
Alright, thank you for the honesty. I have another question as well. Those statistics definitely show that my scores are way to low but I just searched up specifically UPenn engineering sat percentile and here: https://www.seas.upenn.edu/prospective-students/undergrad/
the overall SAT range seems to be a bit lower, should I be looking at these numbers instead?
@Pakalu I see no reason not to. Look at prior ED results threads and you’ll see sub-2000 scores getting into Penn. There are many more factors involved than a four-hour test in your admissions decision. How are your ECs? GPA?
I would personally recommend that if your GPA and ECs are good, go ahead with it and apply ED! Ivy admissions are unpredictable and if Penn is really where you want to go, I see no reason not to apply.
Awesome, I’ll definitely consider using my ED on it now. Thanks guys for all of the great responses!
