Is it wrong to use a wheelchair unnecessarily?

I bought a wheelchair for $25 and I’ve wheeled around town in it. It’s actually much more efficient than walking, and it offers more control than a bike or skateboard. One time, a really strange dude came up to me and starting praising me for all the barriers I had to overcome. I didn’t want him to beat me up for misusing a wheelchair, so I shook his hand and left. It left me wondering: is it immoral to use a wheelchair without needing one? My parents are too embarrassed to be around me while I use it.

um yea…it would be like walking around with sunglasses on an a stick, acting like you are blind. Plus are you really so lazy that you dont want to walk? Why not jsut get a bike…or a skateboard or something. Coming from a family with family members who actually have to use wheelchairs, I consider it inappropriate and a little “immoral”. There’s just something about using a wheelchair when you dont need to that seems wrong.

Slorg, There is a show on FX called “its always sunny in philadelphia”, your story was basically the first show this season. Anyway, I would try walking and being honest, you’re not handicapped, so don’t act like it.

It’s not immoral, you’re just the laziest kid I’ve ever heard of.

That’s hilarious.

I can see how this may insult those who wish to have the use of their legs but dont. However i don’t think its WRONG as such.

You are not using it to get special accommodations or services, you are just using it to get from A to B. Imagine if suddenly society made it ‘cool’ to use wheelchairs… in some ways disabled people may like that. However, it may also come across as incredibly lazy heh.

Although… are you sure there is not something ‘wrong’ with you if you really find it that much easier to be in a wheelchair? I am not trying to be mean, it just seems strange as most able bodied people find manoeuvring in a wheelchair much more difficult. I actually have a syndrome that makes standing difficult at times and many people with it use wheelchairs and find it much easier (thankfully i dont have to). Sorry that’s a bit left field

Just another in what lately has been a string of idiot posts… :-(

Wheelchairs are fine if you broke your foot or something. Or if you’re just playing around in a place like a middle school (if you actually go to that middle school). Of course, if you have to use one, it’s perfectly understandable (that is, if you’re disabled).

Don’t use one to get a gimp parking space. Save that for the old/disabled people who actually need it.

“That’s hilarious”

Lol, you actually bought one. I’m cracking up.

is it wrong to compete in the special olympics to win money to pay for a mans surgery

Its only wrong if you get caught.

This post is freaking hilarious. You may be one of the laziest people I’ve ever heard of, but you made me laugh, so I’ll over look that.

HAHAHA wow, you must be the fattest man alive.

You say you wheel around town. Do you do errands wheeling around town? Do you go to the store and just miraculously get up and go about your business with people around you?

Sounds like a topic for a video blog.

PS: You’re such an American.

hahaha i hope so much that you fall out of it while wheeling along a busy sidewalk and are forced to stand up, dust yourself off, and get back in the wheelchair. the only thing that would make that better is if there’s an actual crippled person next to you when it happens.

Okay so I’m probably the first one to ask this:

…

… How much more efficient than walking?

It depends on the slope. Wheelchairs suck uphill. But on gentle downhills and flats, they’re great.
I don’t use it that often. I ride my bike much more frequently. And, for the record, I’m not fat.

where’d you get one for 25 dollars

I was just wondering what the market is like for wheelchairs. What can $25 get you in todays wheelchair market. Is it like driving a Kia or a Mercedes, or somewhere in between?
