Is lining out grades a bad idea?

My first semester grades in community college was really bad, and i’m thinking of lining the whole semester out. Some one told me uc and cal state don’t honor it. what is the point of lining out the grades if other college can still see it.

What do you mean by lining out? Is this similar to dropping with a ‘W’ (withdraw). If so, this happened to me at a community college. They can see them but as long as you don’t have too many it won’t be that big of a deal. I also got some F’s my first semester so I just retook the classes later and got A’s. The A takes the place of the F. Either way, a ‘W’ looks just as bad as a bad grade but I’d rather have that than a big fat F on my transcript. Plus most schools will count the bad grade towards your overall college GPA and a ‘W’ is not counted towards your GPA.

Most community college give you the option of getting rid of a semester that you do not want, so your gpa will not be effected by that semester. Most community college will give you two semester to line out. For my school you can line out a semester if its below 2.0 average. This is what my counselor told me.

I would do it if you can. I’m pretty sure they will show on your transcript as ‘W’. If you don’t do this you will have to retake all those classes to boost your GPA before any school will even look at you. Then when you transfer, most 4 year universities will use those failed classes in your overall college GPA. Line out if all possible. You might want to keep any B’s or maybe even a few C’s if you don’t want to retake those classes.

hey thanks for the replys. your right, I need to line it out to get my gpa up.
