<p>Sure - recruitment is a big part of human resources, and social media can assist in talent acquisition. It is much faster, reaches a larger audience, and is much cheaper than spending money and hours on a job fair or buying services on CareerBuilder. Knowing how to use it effectively is critical, otherwise you’re just wasting time directing your efforts at the wrong audience. Of course, many of these things you can learn on your own through reading and research and don’t necessarily require a degree just for recruitment efforts. </p>
<p>Social media is also a great way to network with other HR professionals and to give your own career a boost through self-marketing. Again, you need to know how to use it effectively. </p>
<p>So if it interests you then do the double major, or minor in media studies. It certainly won’t hurt you.</p>
