Is Michigan a reach, target, or safety for me?

<p>I’m an out of state high school senior and my counselor says I need more safeties/targets to apply to. What would Michigan classify as for me?</p>

State: Mass.
Anticipated Major: economics</p>

<p>Class Size: 175
Rank: School doesn’t rank but top 10%
Curriculum: All honors and AP classes whenever offered for that subject (senior course load is pretty challenging)
Grades: 4.0 Unweighted, 4.4 weighted
APs: World History (4), US History (5), English Lang (5), Bio (5),
Calculus AB (Will take), French Lang. (Will take), English Lit. (Will take), Gov (Will take)</p>

<p>Awards:
National Merit Scholar semi finalist
AP Scholar with distinction
Graduating Cum Laude
Headmaster’s list (like honor roll)</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
-Lacrosse (9-12)(Varsity for 10-12)
-Model UN (10-12)
-Habitat for Humanity (10-12)
-Helped start Youth United in Worcester MA area and am school ambassador for the program (11-12)
-Big Brother/Big Sister (12)
-Piano since I was 11</p>

<p>Community Service: 40 hours with Special Olympics (helped with annual basketball tourney every year), 20-30 hours with fundraising for Habitat for Humanity, Volunteer Counselor at Intramural sports camp for summer for about 160 hours.</p>

<p>It couldn’t be considered a safety imo because you are OOS, but I’d say it is a low match given your stats/resume. You would be a very strong candidate in their applicant pool.</p>

<p>You are clearly a very strong candidate and I don’t think being OOS matters in your case, however when did you apply? The later you apply the lower your chances are. If you applied by Nov 1st then I’d say safety, otherwise match.</p>
