Hi, I know CMU is ranked 2nd for MIS. However, does this apply to the Computing and Information tech track in tepper or the IS major in H&SS?
Also, what is really the difference between the two majors/paths…?

IS major is a relatively very new major in H&SS so I’m not where you would find the statistics.

There are many differences between the IS major and the business MIS track. For one, in IS you can branch of into programming for computing and HCI, global systems and business, quantitative analysis etc as part of your content areas/tracks. MIS track means you are mostly business but doing MANAGEMENT of Information Systems. IS is something a bit different than that.

Also, IS majors tend to have a light course load so you often see double major IS. IS and HCI seems to be pretty popular.
