Is mit a good school?

mdx also failed to recognize that the University of Chicago received the most Nobel Prizes.

Last time I remember, Chicago is part of the United States.

Didn’t someone mention that to mdx once already?

Though Harvard DOES win the Putnam more often, MIT has way more top scorers in the Putnam than any other college. Harvard just wins because it’s better at picking its best (for the official team), which only reflects the fact that they have a smaller pool of really good math people to choose from. MIT has so many really good math people that it’s hard to pick which five are going to score the highest.

about 43 Harvard Alumni received Nobel Prize
about 30 U. Chicago Alumni received Nobel Prize

Check this web site…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Prize_laureates_by_university_affiliation

mdx, the people you point at at Harvard, the putnam winners and nobel prize winners, are indeed very cool from a personality perspective; they are the 5% of the Harvard population that would fit in at MIT, and that I get along with. However, almost everybody at MIT is cool (personality wise) in that same way, whereas the rest of Harvard consists of a bunch of squares.

lol cubanplayboi you should email MIT with an email with that name

Thanks mdx49 for providing us the link that explicitly shows that the University of Chicago has more Nobel Prizes TOTAL.

I’m confused… University of Cambridge has the most? What…?

Look at the number for ‘Gradutes’…

Harvard ALUMNI received 43 Nobel Prize. I think only 20 MIT alumni got Nobel Prize, even though MIT science departments are 3 times bigger

I think the real question is: is mdx a good ■■■■■?

Please vote.

Check this site

Harvard Alumni got the Fields Medal, the most prestigious award in Mathmatics., more than any other school

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fields_Medal

Abslutely NO ONE from MIT ever got Fields Medal even though MIT math department is 7 times bigger than Harvard math department

Quit saying the same thing over and over again. You’re beating the dead horse. Not to mention whatever you list doesn’t necessarily mean Harvard is better than MIT.

mdx voted yes!

Mdx’s quality as a ■■■■■ comes from the fact that he uses (loosely speaking) actual statistics to back up what he says… they just don’t mean what he says they do. And if there’s anything an intelligent person can’t resist, it’s explaining statistics or speculating on their underlying causes.

We should count how many responses you’ve drawn from intelligent people, Mr. Golub. Hopefully >1865 (your admittedly impressive post count at the time of this comment’s birth). ;)

bite are you suggesting what I think you’re suggesting?

What a coincidence… only an MIT-bound student would be that observant.

You know, between the poor grammar and the tendency to make the exact same posts over and over, I’m starting to wonder if mdx is a bot.

i like how wikipedia is his source of information

mdx should go away

Interesting thought Jessie… perhaps, but I’d imagine it’d be rather complicated if it can pull up somewhat relevant facts to his ‘arguments’.

I’m gonna guess a pre-teen who has an older sibling or close relative at Harvard. :P

-Jared [/sarcasm]

I believe it’s fairly clear that mdx49 is a ■■■■■
