Do I have to apply for colleges in spring or can I apply after the school year is over? Because I only took one AP class this year and I was offered another one but I was planning on taking that next year. However, the colleges wont see the score I will get on the AP exams on the 5 AP classes I will be having next year.

You have to apply in the fall/winter. Not spring.

But to answer your original question, yes, the second semester of your senior year will be completely useless.

yes they will, collegeboard sends your scores to the school you have been accepted to. you fill in the necessary college information the day of the test, because by may you know which college you will be attending in fall.

But you could, like, use the second semester of 12th grade to, you know, learn stuff, or something.

Not completely useless. If you have to transfer they may look at the whole Senior year grades.

Senior grades are also needed so you don’t get your admission rescinded- most schools require a final transcript, and they WILL kick you out it you completely blow off school. Also, if you get wait-listed anywhere, having strong second semester grades would be good.

And ditto what Hunter said. Learning stuff is good too.

IMO, it’s not worth it to stay up till 3-4 AM in the morning working on your schoolwork for 12 hours during second semester senior year

for my D, two AP classes she took as a senior were given as credit so she got out of two classes and was able to go to an upper level class right away

if she had blown off her second semester, she wouldn’t have been able to do that

if you get waitlisted u will need to send your senior year grades so make sure they’re average grades and not like C’s or D’s

ps- you REALLY need to learn about the application timelines…some are due in the winter semester of the senior year, and most are due before January ends, with some a bit later

you don’t apply in the summer after your graduate, or the spring of your senior year…you apply as a senior, they see what classes you have taken and are currently taking, scores for various tests, and will see you AP scores for senior year, yes you have already graduated, but in some cases you can get out of a college class if your ap score is high enough

wow what a load of BS. I should have taken that *ing AP bio this year. * man. GOD **** MY SCHOOL. Offering only 2 AP classes during Junior year. Way to **** me over.

Relax. Colleges will still see that you’re taking 5 AP courses your senior year, which is impressive. Your scores junior year are nice if you do well but theyre mostly used for placement. So, no, it’s not “useless” to take AP Bio your senior year; if you get a 4 or a 5 you might place out of an intro bio course, or, at the least, get a few points towards your degree. Having lots of AP credits allows you to take fewer classes every semester in order to graduate, which essentially makes college that much easier.

“But you could, like, use the second semester of 12th grade to, you know, learn stuff, or something.”

Unless they’re going to HYPMS, I don’t know a single senior who actually cares bout learning, expanding their mind, etc 2nd semester. They just want to enjoy their last few months of high school, party, and be off. And I really don’t see the problem with that. They’ve worked hard for 3 1/2 years, might as well enjoy the last few months of their childhood.
