Is my college list complete?

I’m a poor Hispanic male from Florida targeting top schools. One of my parents passed away when I was younger.
I’m in the top 5-10% of my well-regarded public high school
33 ACT, one sitting
I’ve taken the most rigorous course load available at my school and have received 5’s on 7 AP exams and one 4
My senior schedule consists of all AP’s
EC’s: I’m president and founder of 1 club and VP of another club at my school
I’ve competed at the national level for both of those clubs
I play a vital role in my family business and that takes up a lot of my time

I have more ec’s and a few awards, but I want to make this quick.

My list:

Bowdoin College
Dartmouth College
Williams College
University of Chicago

Middlebury College
Hamilton College
Trinity College

University of Florida
Florida State University

Is this list a good balance of reaches, matches, and safeties? Thanks! If you need any more info., just ask.

Some of the colleges are vastly different on your list. Dartmouth and Chicago (one is very rural and one is very urban). You have a lot of LAC’s and research universities, both of which are pretty different as well.Make sure you know what you want in a school.

Make sure you can afford your safeties by checking out their financial aid policies.

Yeah, I know it seems odd, but there are personal reasons for that. Would you say the list is balanced though? Chances? Thanks!

What are you interested in studying? Do you want a research university or LAC? You are all over the place between the two. It seems like it doesn’t matter what part of the country? There are lots and lots of colleges out there that you could also consider. For instance, you listed UChicago, a highly selective university in Chicago, but didn’t list Northwestern, which is just a short drive up Lake Shore Drive from UChicago.

Since you are from Florida, maybe you want to stay in the general SE area? How about Vanderbilt, Emory, or Duke?

There are so many LAC on the east coast if you desire that. Not just Bowdoin. There’s Williams, Swarthmore, Amherst, Bucknell, Colgate… the list goes on.

Maybe you need to sharpen the pencil a bit. And don’t forget financial feasibility and affordability. Extremely important to not have to graduate with lots of debt.

I plan on majoring in economics. I’m applying to 5 LAC’s because that’s what I’m looking for. My top 7 schools are need blind and meet 100% of demonstrated need. Dartmouth is a boarderline LAC in my opinion. UChicago is an oddball, but I have a personal reason for that; I have a sibling at grad school there. As for UF and FSU those are two massive research universities, but they’re also the best financial and academic choices available to me in-state.

I would think that with your scores UF and FSU would be matches/ safeties. However, ypu could consider adding one or two more FL schools that may be slightly less selective, just in case?

I have also heard a lot about New College. Would that be a school to possibly add?

Would y’all say my list is balanced? Are there any schools that you think I should consider? Chance me? Thanks!

Just wanted to say that UChicago is a great school to apply to if you’re looking to major in Economics! I think they have the top program in the nation or one of the top  Good luck!
