Is my contribution enough for Lehigh?

Hi,
I’m a student from a Vietnamese high school for the gifted, and I intend to apply to Lehigh university.
I’ve just received my October SAT score, and I’m very disappointed at it ~~ I don’t know if I can apply ED1 to Lehigh with these scores.
Anyway, my score is: 1990 (first attempt). I will re-take the SAT on November.
CR: 640
Math: 670
Writing: 680
My TOEFL score is 103 by the way.
My family can contribute about $30k to Lehigh. Please tell me if I stand any chance applying ED1 to Lehigh. I’ve shown strong interest in the school (I go to college fair, get in touch with the representative, email the admissions officer to ask questions and send in my school profile and my resume, etc).
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
First, note that Lehigh does not consider your Writing score.

Based on the Class of 2018 profile, 1543 students were accepted out of 3638 applicants who have the SAT score range from 1300 to 1400 (your Oct SAT score is 1310). Therefore, I think that you should concentrate more on your Nov test (specifically Math and CR sections) to get a higher score to increase your chance of being admitted. However, you should contact Lehigh office to verify that whether they accept the SAT score of your Nov test in ED1 or not, because the ED deadline is Nov 15th.

And about your family contribution, I think 30k$ is enough. You can check on their website to see the expected family contribution (If I remember correctly, it is around 25k$)

Hope this can help you. Good luck on your application !

Lehigh offers the Early Decision 2 for the kids who don’t have their test scores ready for Early Decision 1. Aren’t they thoughtful?

I would be careful about the family contribution expectations. We were very surprised that we were not eligible for any financial aid. Lehigh was kind enough to give your son a merit scholarship. Call Lehigh and talk to someone about financial aid before you apply early decision if cost could be any kind of issue. They really do like talking to families and answering questions.

@ampharos oh hi, i see that you’re a Vietnamese too (i saw you comment in the October SAT thread). You have a decent score! Congrats! Do you have any tips for the SAT btw? Please tell me ‘cause my Nov test is approaching >’< I’m so worried.
