Over 3 years ago, I came to the US from an Asian country. I started highschool after the first quarter had already finished, and, therefore, had a low GPA of 3 that year. Over the next two years, I increased my (weighted) GPA by .75 increments, with my sophomore and Junior GPAs being 3.75 and 4.5 respectively. Now, I’m hoping to apply to UT Austin this year, and I’ve taken the SAT and the ACT, with the scores being 1370 and 32. I would like to know, in your opinion, if I qualify for UT Austin.
UT Austin is going to look at your class rank and scores rather than your GPA, unless your high school does not rank, then they will use your gpa to assign a rank. UT will then use a system they call Academic Index and Personal Achievement Index.
Post your question here. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/ There are a lot of highly knowledgeable folks that frequent the thread that can help explain the AI and PAI.
Thanks!
