Is my idea appropriate for the question?

The question is, if I could meet with anybody in time, historical or otherwise, who would it be, why, describe our conversation, and how they’ve impacted me.

I wanted to write this essay about my grandfather who recently passed away at the beginning of the month from brain cancer. He was a mechanical engineer (he has inspired me to major in M.E.) and a man of high character. He has probably had the largest impact on me then anyone else. For the past 3 years he was sick and not quite himself due to the circumstances. Even though we’ve “met,” I don’t feel I had enough time with him and wish I could see him again. There were things we never got to talk about. I know other people will be writing about scientists and other people they’ve never met, so I was wondering would it be appropriate if I wrote about him? It does say “otherwise.” Its not some scheme to get pity and milk the situation for what its worth. I genuinely would want to “meet” him again. Thanks.

sure why not

I think if you make it really personal and honest, and really delve into all that you never got to talk to him about, then I think it is great.

sounds like a wonderful essay. now just write it!

agree, it will make a good essay

Thanks guys, I’ve started and I have a good feeling about this one!
