Is my imcome included in out gross family income?

So for all the schools I’m applying to, I’ve been applying as an EOF candidate. For EOF, it states a family of 3 gross income can’t exceed $39,500 (somewhere around that price). This concerns me because my mom made about $38,000 last year and I made about $6,700. Is my income supposed to be included in the gross income? If so,would this mean I’m not eligible for EOF because our combined income is over $44,000? My mother was unemployed for most of 2015 and only made $570 from working. The reason why her income came out to $38,000 is because she received money from her old job(apparently she had money taken from her check and put into some savings account and they decided to give her the the money back. She’s worked there for over 15 years which is why its so much.) That money only last for a few months and now we’re left with her part time job salary. Is there a way to the to the schools I’m applying to?

Anyone??

Generally your income would count.

Since you have an unusual situation, I suggest you contact each college you are applying to and ask them. Even though on the face of it, it looks like you’re over the income limit, because it was a sort of one-time occurrence, there might be a way around it. Call or email those colleges. If you’re not sure where to direct your call or email, try Admissions or Financial Aid.

Your school counselor could be helpful too, but if their answer is that you’re not eligible, you should still contact the colleges directly.
