Is my kids HS messed up?

Daughter has already completed 3 applications. Waiting on high school counselor info. Met with counselor who said school profile will not be done until Sept/ early October so she will not fill out her part until then.

Is this the norm? I feel like if my daughter has her stuff together to have her application done the school should be able to do the same. It does not feel right for the school to be holding up her application for a month.

This is my kid’s school as well. His first application is due 10/15 and his counselor told him that they’ll aim to get it in by 10/1. Stresses me out.

D23 attended the same school but a different counselor and everything was in by the first week of September.

This was the case at my kid’s HS as well. Transcripts were not available to be sent to colleges until October.

I know it is frustrating, but it will be fine.

While frustrating, I don’t think this is all that unusual. We also had to wait for things from the school long after D had done her part.

Very, very typical! Had this with my older son too. Now it is my daughter’s time for application and she won’t apply until Sept or early October for this reason. I felt that applications for my son weren’t looked at until after November 1st anyway so all will be 100% fine

She can submit her general CommonApp application (with the relevant counselor and teachers “linked”), complete her supplements, and submit at any point. Teachers and counselors have about 10 days after the student’s deadline.

This is normal in my kids school too. My last kid got her stuff done and submitted by early September but school took another month to send their stuff. I was impatient but it’s what it is.

I did get very annoyed at a smaller Pennsylvania college that kept texting “we just need your transcript, send your transcript” over and over again. Eventually I called admissions to remind them that the student doesn’t control when the high school sends and I know that admissions knows that so just stop.

It comes down to GC prioritization and time. At our school, the first couple of weeks are helping students rearrange schedules and ensuring IEP/504 students are settled. Getting info to potential colleges comes after that. I am not offended.
