Is my SAT Essay Relevant?

I took the SAT today, and topic had to do with the advantages conferred from analyzing minute details vs. looking at the big picture.

I’m really afraid that my examples were a bit off-topic (not enough to give me a 0), but maybe to hurt my score.

To give a short synopsis, my examples were:

Oedipus Rex. Laius is murdered. Oedipus tries to find out who the murderer is; the oracle tells him that he once prophesized that Oedipus would kill Laius. Oedipus ignores these minute details, which causes his downfall.

Munich Conference. The Allied Powers are too focused on the big picture, of appeasing Hitler, and don’t put much significance into the minor details of Hitler annexing Sudetenland. This causes the rise of Hitler’s empire in Europe.

They seem like two pretty decent examples. Definitely not enough to warrant a 0 (You’d probably need to write about pink elephants growing on trees to get something like that). What exactly was your thesis? It seems like you took a pretty moderate stance.

I don’t remember exactly, but it was something like: focusing on the big picture can skew your outlook and result in making bad decisions.

I had this same concern and essay prompt today. Where did you take your test?
