Is my writing score a problem?

<p>I got pretty good composite scores for both my SAT (2190) and ACT (34). I am applying to top-tier universities like Stanford, Duke, and Columbia. The only problem with my scores was that I only got 8’s on the essay portion of both exams. How much will this affect my chance at admission to these colleges?</p>
