Is no communication normal?

I have received nothing from Northwestern since its e-mail confirming it received my application. Is that normal?

I received no mail from NU from the “Complete and Under Review” email until my acceptance letter, so yes, it is normal.

When did you get your letter btw? ea or rd? class of 2016, I assume.

I received my letter on December 9th around 5pm, and yeah it was through Early Decision!

D is currently a freshman who was admitted RD last year.

No communication is normal.

I remember being surprised by this when D applied. Every other school sent her MOUNTAINS of mail once they had her application, and some even sicked persistent alum on her. D thought that most communication from schools after she’d applied, but before she was admitted, was superfluous and sometimes even annoying.

The good news is that once you are accepted, we’ve found that NU strikes a perfect balance in communication. We seem to get exactly what we want, precisely when we need it. Not too much, not too little.

Good luck, everyone!

Three emails, that’s it. Sometimes less is better.
