your scores wouldn’t hurt your chances.

My D had those exact scores (except her essay was an 11) and she was waitlisted at Northwestern this year.

There is no such thing as a “sure thing” when it comes to schools in the top 25.

Collegemom - my son also had the same type of scores. Where did your daughter apply and where did she get in.

MIT (EA) - Deferrred, (RD) Rejected
Northwestern - Accepted
Cornell - Waitlisted
Johns Hopkins - Rejected
Brown - Rejected
Carnegie Mellon - Accepted
University of Virginia - Accepted
University of Rochester - Accepted
Lehigh - Waitlisted (?)
Rennselaer - Accepted
then a couple safeties all accepted

The SAT is lower than the average score of admitted class of last year (CR+M = 1468).
The ACT is probably a bit higher or the same as the mean of the admitted students (my guess is 32 or 33).

But it’s about the whole package anyway. Those scores don’t hurt or help, IMO; NU can be a match or a reach depending on the quality of the other stuff.

PSAT was 226 so I would think there is room for improvement…especially on the essay.

i had a 2090 and was accepted this year. it really didn’t help me i am sure, but i had a few good essays I think that really pushed my case over. those scores seem to be just fine for NU… if you can, try to retake and get a better score.

good luck!

I had a 2060 and 32, and I was accepted to engineering, so yes, you definitely have a chance, depending on your essays and extracurriculars… Scores don’t play as much of a role as you may think.

I also got into UC Berkeley, UCLA, Tufts, and U of Mich.

It’s a lower reach. Any school that rejects 80% of its applicants is a reach for anyone. It is obviously not as big of a reach as say Yale.
