Title… I kind of suck at math, but did well in both Micro and Macroeconomics in HS. I’m deciding to do Econ
There’s definitely a concentration in mathematics in economics, but you should be able to overcome that hurdle if you’re truly passionate about economics.
NYU requires all Econ majors to take Math 211-212 which covers the following topics:
“derivatives of functions of one and several variables; interpretations of the derivatives; convexity; constrained and unconstrained optimization; series, including geometric and Taylor series; ordinary differential equations; matrix algebra; eigenvalues; and (possibly) dynamic optimization and multivariable integration.”
It shouldn’t be too bad since there won’t be STEM majors in those classes.
@goldenbear2020 Even if I haven’t taken even Pre-Calc in HS?
If you want a chance to do well as an Econ major, you should definitely take a Pre-Calc class this summer.
