Is NYU college of arts and sciences worth it?

I have been in love with NYC since I was 10 and I believe I have a good chance of getting into NYU, but is it actually worth it? I don’t know how much financial aid I will get, but based on my families financial situation I will not receive a lot of financial aid if I get in. I plan on either majoring in chemistry or mathematics. My parents don’t want to pay NYU’s tuition unless it is actually worth it so is NYU cas worth it?

Unless you are a tippy-top student the chances of getting any significant aid from NYU are nil. Read the forums. They are famous for gapping families. Unless your family is willing to pay the full $60K each year then move on. There are other schools in NYC.

Other than NYU and Columbia, which are actually ranked decently though?

NYU has an outstanding math department and excellent opportunities for chemistry. However, there are other less expensive schools in major cities which cost much less than NYU and still boast exceptional math/ chemistry departments. The University of Washington is one example, U Toronto is another.

Other less expensive (although by no means cheap possibilities)
UBC - Vancouver
Georgia Tech
UT Austin
University of Minnesota

^NYU is outstanding for math, so if your parents have the money, yes it’s worth it.
Look up " Courant institute" .
NYU is very expensive though and you’d need to apply to a few other universities.
In addition to what Whenhen said above, I’d suggest looking at Northwestern, UChicago, UCSD, UWisconsin.
