Is one major and two minors too much?

I want to major in graphic design, minor in business and minor in fashion.

Is this too much to do? And if not are there what can I do to make it easier for me ?

Make a four year plan of the classes you’ll need to take for those minors and your major, as well as any core curriculum classes. Does it work? Can you graduate in four years? Will you be able to handle taking however many credit hours you’ll have per semester? Do you think this combination of majors/minors will benefit you? I have two majors and a minor and that’s exactly what I did before declaring each of them.

Tips to make it easier -

  • If you are still in high school, take AP classes that will fulfill core requirements so you have less required classes. If you are a senior it may be too late.
  • if you already know what college you’ll be attending, pay close attention to the respective curriculum for those programs. If you don’t, try to compare the curriculums between colleges.
  • consider taking summer classes to lighten your load. You may not want to for financial reasons or because you’d rather be doing an internship or something else.
  • TALK TO YOUR ADVISOR(S). You may have more than one depending on how your college assigns them. Talk to them all the time. They will be your best friends. Don’t wait until the week before registration to figure out what you’ll take. They’ll often have advice on what to take, when to take, and in what order.
  • keep worst case scenarios in mind. Know from the start what you’ll drop (which minor) should it be too much to take on.
  • join clubs/societies related to your programs to connect with upperclassmen who will have advice and knowledge about your programs. These will be your best friends after your advisor.

You seem to have the goal of hitting two bird with one stone :smiley: Having a degree on all that you’ve lined up would make you an invincible fashion business person. What I could say is what you’re thinking is not impossible. You just have to craft out a good course plan (which subjects to take and all that).

You also don’t have to formally “minor”…you can just take classes in those areas as your electives. So if an officially minor is 4 classes, you could just take 3 or 2 classes.
