Is one school/program at Lehigh more competitive than others?

My son is interested in communications and business. Is the business program more competitive? If he indicates this is his interest, in other words will they be looking at his credentials with an even more discerning eye? Please help.
Thanks.

Response to your 1st question, yes, imo.

To your 2nd, I’m not sure they consider matching kids to majors as they are admitted and/or if they have varying expectations/requirments. I don’t believe so, but not certain of that.

ctmom: you may know this, but, there is no communications major at Lehigh, only a minor…Not sure if the business school is necessarily more difficult to get into, but there are special combined programs with engineering, computer science, etc that are more competitive…

On the other hand, he could major in journalism and minor in business if concerned about admit to the business school as a major…

According to admission officers I’ve spoken to, Lehigh’s special programs (such as Integrated Business/Engineering, Arts-Engineering, Lehigh+UPenn 7 year program) are the hardest to get into. After that, CAS is the hardest (you need high math AND writing skills). Personally though, I feel it does not really matter what school you apply to, as it’s so easy to change between schools once you’re in.

I agree with cclu.

Engineering does not require high CR/writing scores (although students will have to take first year English.)

The Business School may be the easiest of the three schools to get into – but the IBE program is the toughest.

When I visited campus, I spoke with (I believe) the dean of admissions, and he said that the Business school has the lowest acceptance rate. Eng. has the highest at around 45%
