[Commission on Colleges](http://sacscoc.org/details.asp?instid=29200) lists Emory Universiy (but not Oxford) as accredited—the one in Atlanta—with the president as James Wagner. But Oxford is its own junior college with its own president. Even hands out its associate degree as “Oxford College of Emory University” on top instead of “Emory University.”

Why is this being bought up (is this a bash attempt?)?

Anyway, don’t know (maybe they have a different accredidation or it does fall under Emory. This is my guess. Wagner is the president over all of Emory. I’m betting Oxford’s president is subordinate to him in various ways). Regardless, it’s fine. They haven’t had trouble getting to grad. or med. school. I have two friends who went there (twins). One at med. school this fall and one at BU for a masters. And given that you can’t qualify for graduation from the college w/o a certain number of credits (most which would be from Oxford). I mean, BU is not going to let a person do a science masters w/like less than 1/2 the credits needed to graduate from Emory.

*And yes, it is accredited. I looked it up while typing this. Seriously, this shouldn’t be a surprise. Despite what stuck up kids on my good ole main campus like to believe the school is one of the better in Ga. (I know this is hard to believe, but not every non-CC is an elite school in the south. Most schools do not have an SAT average near or beyond 1300 down here. And 1250+ is generally a solid score on the SAT, no matter the region. Oxford’s average is between this and 1300, so they aren’t ■■■■■■■■. I suppose most of the folks in Ga. are just ■■■■■■■■ because I assure you that most going to college don’t have a 1250 or close to it. And neither does the US college going populous) and gets better students than schools like Mercer which many Ga. students consider pretty good and gets students that rival UGA’s (I’d say they’re pretty good. Oxford is more academically serious though). Places like Morris Brown lack accreditation due to mismanagement and administrative corruption. When a popular/known to be good school loses or lacks accreditation, you would hear about it by now.

Here is a document showing the accreditation: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B456FmeCw42BNzhiMGUxYjEtMDA5My00OTZmLWI0NWMtYjU3NjkxN2E0MzE4&hl=en_US

Read the Oxford profile.

My bad, read the “Programs of Study section”. It tells about the accreditation agency in the 2nd paragraph.

No, it was not a bash attempt. I was just unsure.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it!

Oxford is not its own college; it is not a junior college; and it does not have its own president.

Yes, you were just looking in the wrong place; look at the member list: http://sacscoc.org/pdf/webmemlist.pdf. Because Oxford is part of Emory and not its own college, it is accredited as a branch campus of Emory University.

So that’s where I was wrong. Thanks for pointing it out.
