Is Paris free?

Conflicting reports - has Paris Hilton been released from jail?

According to this, yes.

<a href=“Paris Hilton -- Free Woman”>Paris Hilton -- Free Woman;

and this

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070607/ap_on_en_tv/paris_hilton;_ylt=AqlcYDsRaayG2xK.Tj5UMz6s0NUE

She was simply “reassigned”!!! Ha Ha. For medical reasons no less. Guess jail made her “crazy.”

Sorry for the lack of sympathy…

Yes, here in LaLa land we’ve done it again. Paris has had her setence commuted from 23 days in the slammer to 45 days of house arrest at her mansion for undislosed medical reasons. Apparently being an over the top spoiled brat is now a medical condition.

She’s been given an electronic monitor that covers about 3000-4000 Sq ft. of movement before setting off. Her house is probably twice as big as that.

The whole situation reminds me of a line from Richard Pryor commenting on his race and the justice system…if you go to the jails you see (justice)…JUST US.

Another celeb gets special treatment. …Happiest man in America today has to be Phil Spector (music producer and “inventor” of the Wall of Sound from the sixties) who is now on trial for murder in L.A. County.

I happen to practice law in Los Angeles, and this nonsense is business as usual.

Wow, interesting development.

Silly me, however, that I opened this thread asking if Paris was free and I stupidly thought you meant the city of Paris where my D is headed next week! I am so dumb.

This I believe!

Maybe she refused to eat the jailhouse food.

soozievt - I’m with you, I saw this thread and thought it was a free trip to Paris and I was ready to pack my bags for France!

Is Paris free? From what I understand the most it will cost is a couple of drinks!

what a joke, you get some guy in jail for life for a doobie, and she gets to go shopping from her house

guess the best party ticket in town with be at Paris’ shack

so much for law and justice, eh?

CGM, what’s a doobie?

“joint”…

(not sure of the correct spelling of the slang, don’t you know)

That’s BS. You have to be selling to get any serious time virtually anywhere unless you have a stack of priors and even then I doubt anyone gets much time unless it’s a lot of pot and a third strike felony…

Me three!! I thought Air France was running a special.

Is she pregnant?

I can’t recall the source where I read this, sorry, but it mentioned her refusal or issues with eating the jailhouse food in relation to the “medical reasons.”

This just seems like such BS! If she won’t eat the food, too bad. If she’s having a nervous breakdown, too bad. If she’s really that ill, then she should be in the jail’s hospital area or in a medical center. It’s jail. It’s supposed to be stressful. Even if she were pregnant (which I doubt) she should serve her sentence. Sheesh.

I hate to admit it, but I thought the original 45 days for parole violation was excessive. I am no PH fan, but I am sure there are legions of parole violaters that get nothing but a slap on the wrist - “Don’t do that again!!!”

This is so bogus! I was so pleased to see her being treated in an ordinary way, it began to restore my faith in the justice system, but, nooooooo, a little spoiled rich girl does not like the food so she goes home? I’d bet Martha Stewart did not like the food either. What a joke! Did her attorney tell her not to eat ?

That being said, I do not know the usual punishment for parole violations, but I thought that one step over the line meant you were to serve your suspended sentence, so she blew it and should be punished.

So, who saw Nicole R on Letterman last night talking about her possible jail visit- no wonder these girls are not scared of the consequences. I am sure we could find some people on CC who know of kids in jail for this type of behaviour. I am not arguing for or against the punishment or reasonableness of it, just would like to see some consistency applied.

I found this (yes, I googled Paris Hilton for the first time ever ):

"Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Paris Hilton’s medical condition was purely psychological and that she was in peril of having a nervous breakdown, and that’s why she was released early this morning.

Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We’re told after Sophy’s visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton’s mental state was fragile and she was at risk.

The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head."

Doesn’t any one who goes to jail feel like they will go crazy? Wasn’t that her best chance to have a true life changing experience? 23 days by herself with no posse, stuck thinking her own thoughts. She might have actually changed and changed her life, but, no.

Thank goodness! Out in time to prepare for the Darva and Rick 7th Anniversary celebration!
