marite - LOL. That ranks up there with the designer ankle bracelet.

When I first heard that she was being released for medical reason, I asked my H if skankiness had now been declared a medical conditioin. He says I’m mean . . .

well, why blame pooor paris, none of it was her fault

see her PEOPLE didn’t tell her stuff, see, like, you know, they told her, she could like drive, and stuff, and she didn’t read n e thing, cuz, you know, she has PEOPLE to do that for her…so its not HER fault she got the midnight munchies and didn’t want to bother the chauffer guy (what’s his name) or the cook to make that burger

Poor Paris is very ill. She’s suffering from chronic “spoiled brat syndrome”. The symptoms: “a child whose parents and/or other educators systematically fail to teach socially acceptable behavior and discipline. The term also carries the connotation of the child’s being privileged as well as seldom subjected to consequences for his/her actions.”

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

“We’ll always have Paris.”

She did look miserable. I heard on some of the news shows that she may be detoxing, which is why there are complaints of being sick. Not to start rumors, but do you think she has been using more than the alcohol that started all of this?

I think she should have gotten some sort of sentence obviously, but I read what happened isn’t exactly uncommon due to overcrowding in the LA jail system - nonviolent offenders are apparently sent home when they can justify it. I read an article that quoted some expert who wasn’t very surprised. They also pointed out it happens a lot and the only the original judge found about it was through a news report, so basically it happens all the time but she’s only getting resentenced because she’s famous.

So if you feel it’s wrong she was sent home, then it’s really the system and not just Paris Hilton alone, that you have to be against. Actaully it’s scary how little sentencing people can get, a nearby school superintendent was caught driving drunk several years back and basically got nothing, didn’t even lose her job, it was sort of surprising, I would have figured no jail but you’d think they’d at least strongly push for her resignation.

The justice system certainly is a little screwy in this one, but what’s even more annoying is how obsessed the media is with Paris Hilton. Before I begin my little rant, understand that I am in no way in support of Paris, nor do I idolize her or like her really.

Honestly, how would you feel if you had a camera breathing down your neck every day? If you had people talking about you as if you were the meaning of life? I find it, no offense to fellow CCers in particular, DISGUSTING that our society is so involved with the lives of other people. And I do not mean this in direct reference of Paris Hilton, but just other celebrities in general. Celebrities are, believe it or not, normal people. They just happen to have a lot of money and are widely known in society for their popular musical, theatrical, or financial endeavors.

This morning I watched the news, but I was instead greeted by a freakin 5 hour block and rant on Paris Hilton! ***? Yeah, I get it, she got pulled over for DUI, had her license suspended, etc. But she’s not the only one. So have thousands of other people in this country. I’ll admit, they’re not all celebs, but the point is OTHER PEOPLE DO IT. Paris is not the only one, so she shouldn’t be getting all this attention. Anyway, back to my point, I didn’t watch news today. I instead watched society lash out on one female celebrity. Seriously, are people so bored with their own lives that they have to criticize the lives of others?

I find this whole thing to be ridiculous…We all need to get over her and get on WITH OUR OWN LIVES.

From what I read, PH has courted publicity assiduously. I actually have a sneaking admiration for her ability to hog the limelight and make everything she does news. She would wilt if people stop wanting to read about her and the media stopped following her every move.

I’m not buying the overcrowding excuse this time. Paris was in a celebrity wing of the jail. 6 special cells, meant to house two prisoners each. She had her cell all to herself. No matter how crowded the rest of the jail might have been, it didn’t affect the unit where she was, so no need to release her.

Forget the ankle bracelet, if I was a marketing dude and could get things out, I’d have nice decorative ankle bracelets (charm bracelets) with the “FREE PARIS!” message engraved on them and would be selling them right now.

It would be the height of frivolity and excess yet, paradoxically, many Americans will see it and exclaim, “I need that!” It would be just the sort of thing that makes Islamist terrorists pull their hair out. So it would be the patriotic thing. In one sense. I suppose. Well, I could make the bracelet red, white and blue to underscore that subtle point…

The woman who shotgunned her preacher husband in bed (Mary Winkler) was sentenced to 6 months, and could be out in a week (!!!) given jailed time served and good behavior…while Ms Hilton will be serving 45 days (or 23 with good behaviour)…

What is going on here ?

@ yourworld: Join the movement!

FREE PARIS!

Good point conyat. I didn’t know she was in a celebrity wing although I honestly don’t know how that’s affected by overcrowding so I couldn’t say. This person was speaking in a general sense though, that this was basically a matter of procedure. So whether her actual cell was needed at the time or not, if they had a legitimate reason to release her, it’s basically less trouble for them to do so if it’s a nonviolent offender. I don’t know how common or uncommon it is, it just seems like it isn’t exactly outside the norm of what goes on.

Have to say, at first was not sympathetic at all to Paris Hilton’s plight…and still have a hard time mustering any emotion over it.

BUT, the prosecutor’s wife received a fine of $186 for driving with a suspended license last year…so it does seem things are a bit out of order in the good state of California. And it does seem as though we once again have rogue prosecutors and judges with questionable motives. Given they are both ELECTED officials, it’s not hard to figure out what those motives are either…

I think she is probably a very nice person, rather like a Pekinese can be a really nice doggish sort of thing.

I wouldn’t believe for a minute that any of the LA/NYC partiers aren’t using at least “soft” drugs like E, coke and pot. Of course Paris is detoxing. It’s hilarious.
