Wyoming is great. My daughter just graduated and spent a happy time there. It is very (very) difficult to get WUE, but the Rocky Mtn Scholars award can pay just as much with the highest level being the same 150% of instate tuition.
Greeley is a stinky town. If you are getting the stockyards aroma, you will get the sugar beets. If you want to major in education, it’s the best place to go.
Yes, Greely did smell like a dairy farm. The tour guide said that "it only smells on Wednesdays, too bad its Wednesday). I’m assuming that she was joking, unless some sort of production is only done on Wednesdays. Not sure what you meant by “you will get the sugar beets”. Is the “sugar beets” another aroma? It sounds like a medical condition!
No, sugar beets processing is also stinky.
I don’t think Wednesdays are special. I think it stinks every day.
Thanks for the clarification. I heard the tour guide at CSU Fort Collins tell someone "we sometimes get the smell fro Greely). I thought, “What! Greely is 30 miles away! It must really be stinky!”. Anyhow, we could smell something when we first got to Greely, but didn’t notice it on the tour. I’m sure the smell was still there, but we were getting that olfactory nerve fatigue. Anyhow, we were impressed by UNC, and the smell only seemed like a small disadvantage

The Greely Chamber of Commerce would like a word with you out back. Rocco, Tony, help the poster find another topic…
LOL!
In order to avoid getting my legs broken, I need to emphasize that it was only a slight smell at first that we didn’t notice on the tour. Also, it seems that Greely’s reputation was from past operations when there were feed lots within the city limits and before a smokestack was installed. https://www.npr.org/2013/08/03/207645081/colorado-city-tries-to-cleanse-its-reputation-for-cow-odor
Anyhow, when discussing the disadvantages to UNC, they were more directed to 2 streets running through the middle of campus (although not busy and there was a diaganol crosswalk for one, and an underpass for another), the campus being disjointed into 2 parts, one building without windows, another building without AC, some of the buildings being older, …etc, but the smell was not a primary concern.
Well, you gotta give Greely credit for admitting there was a problem and taking steps to correct it:
“The long and the short of it is that it was a big problem in the 1980s and 1990s, and city leaders and industry worked together to say, ‘We’re going to turn this around,’” Mueller said. "Greeley hasn’t had feedlots in its city limits for over 20 years, and they’ve been illegal in the city for almost that long. So that has not been a reality for decades, and yet the world has a long collective memory.
Mueller also said overcoming the urban legend that the city smells is part of Greeley Unexpected, a city initiative that works to dispel Greeley myths, ranging from one idea that there’s nothing to do downtown to another that Greeley still has feedlots in city limits."

UPDATE:
- Convinced my D to take the March 9th SAT after only scoring 1080 in Dec 2018 in exchange for a trip to Disneyland. (I thought 1080 was pretty low, since her uwGPA is 3.6)
- We went to Disneyland Feb 20-24 (They had a 5-day tix for $239)
- She took the SAT with essay on March 9th, and got the results today, where she improved her scores from 1080 to 1100 after 8 more hours of studying.
- We were pretty thrilled with that, because UN Reno is one of the schools she is considering applying to, and it offers approximately $7,700 per academic year (about $31k over 4 years) under their “Nevada Advantage” freshman scholarship for OOS students with a minimum 3.0 GPA and 1100 SAT.

- So, we spend about $1k bribing her with Disneyland, but we’ll save $31k if she goes to UNR. Money well spent! #BribesWork
@GusGus5
Did your D hear from Cal Poly SLO, Chico, SDSU, and SBCC?
- We are planning a trip in early May to see SDSU, UCSD, and CSU San Marcos
- We are also planning a Memorial weekend trip to see UC Merced, CSU Fresno, CSU Channel Islands, SBCC, UCSB, Cuesta, CP SLO, and CSU Monetery Bay.
- While on our Disneyland trip, we also saw CSU Long Beach, UCI, UC Riverside, CSU San Bernardino, Cal Poly Pomona, CSU Northridge, and CSU Fullerton. We were impressed with CSULB, CPP, and CSUN.
- We also saw CSU Stanislaus and CSU Chico a couple of weekends ago and we were impressed with both.
