Is Pepperdine University another University of San Diego?

Is Pepperdine University another University of San Diego? I am aware that Pepperdine University ranks way higher on the list than University of San Diego. However, in terms of diversity, party scene (I am not into party, so I need a school that offers “tranquility”), and academics. Is it the same compared to USD?

How about Pepperdine University versus University of San Francisco? Actually, I do like USF, just not San Francisco’s weather.

Thanks =)

I’d say no; my D was accepted, and we spent a day there. Better still, post this on the Pepperdine forum.

Shrinkrap, you spent a day at Pepperdine so you can say that it is NOT like USD?
Interesting.

From looking at his previous posts, it appears that coolant is a former Penn state student who transferred to the University of San Francisco and then transferred to the University of San Diego and after a month is looking to transfer again.

He clearly has not found the right school yet. I wish him good luck.

By the way, I only took summer courses at Penn State. I spend all two years at USF

FWIW…

Not…spent a day at Pepperdine SO I can say that it is NOT like USD?

More like my D was admitted, we went to admitted students day, spent a day at Pepperdine AND I can say that it is NOT like USD…

I think of USD as a catholic school, and Pepperdine, not so much.

I think it was going through the application and decision process with my D, including “listening” to a lot of people here, that leads to my opinion. I am referring to Pepperdines mission when I say that.

The most important part was posting it on the Pepperdine forum.

I feel USF’s curriculum will better prepare me for the business world. It is more practical. First, every undergraduate student is recommended to take a Business Writing class. Furthermore, their math course is tailored for business students. In that math class, emphasis is put on excel. At USF, an undergraduate student is not required to take Calculus. Seriously, Calculus is not related to accounting in any ways.
The professors at USF (School of Business) are very passionate and emphasis details. My accounting professor taught every single material. She goes over problems in class and clearly explained everything. Just amazing!
However, my accounting professor at USD knows the materials well but failed to teach the materials. He directly reads the PowerPoint Slides. That’s all he does! I did not pay $25,000 per semester to receive this type of inferior education!
Furthermore, USD’s curriculum just wants a student to stay longer! The School of Business doesn’t even offer Business Writing which is a crucial course to ALL undergraduate business students. Furthermore, I do not see the reasons for requiring students to take two Science courses, one Logic course, one “upper-division” Philosophy course, etc.
In conclusion, I am not saying that USD’s curriculum is “inferior” to USF’s curriculum. Both have their loyal customers!

I went to Pepperdine, I liked it, good school, just not much to do in the actual city of Malibu but Santa Monica is right over the hill.
