My school expands Physics C Mech into one year and they also offer Physics B. I have already taken Calc BC and would like some advice. I don’t have any prior knowledge of physics. I want to take Mech but I don’t know which one I should take. Is Mech alone going to be easier than Physics B?

I found mech a lot more “elegant” than physics b. I guess it’s easier because there’s not as much material and it all flows really well.

It depends on your preference. In general, physics C is calculus based whereas physics B is more thematically algebra based. I’ve had friends who thought the former was harder than the latter, and vice versa. If you’re a mathy guy and love calculus, you may find physics C to be slightly easier. This is just a generalization though, it all depends on the individual.

Thanks for the info guys. I’ve heard that the Calculus involved in Physics is relatively simple but knowing where to apply it can be tough. I think I’ll just go ahead and take C…

If you know calculus well, chances are you will find physics with calculus easier than physics without calculus. And if your school is doing it at half speed, the course is probably quite easy compared to an actual university physics course.

^^Yeah I was thinking the same about the pace.
