You don’t get any scholarship money even if you are amazing. Is it worth it?
The answer really depends on the individual. If I had to do it all over again, I would have sought the opportunity to play rather than going to a D1 school to which I had zero chance of even walking-on.
As I get older, I realize that I learned as much playing football as I did in many of my classes. The lessons of teamwork and cooperation have been much more important than most other things in school.
