I am an international student, and I want to transfer to UC from CC.
Could you tell me the degree of difficulty of transfering to UCB for the art major and the popularity of the art department in UCB?
My major is art, and my current GPA is 3.65.

It seems UCLA and UCSD are better. You may want to check out California Institute of the Arts, Art Center College of Design and California College of the Arts as well.

I had an instructor who has an MFA from Berkeley in Art Practice and have been told that it’s very experimental over there.

How about UCSC? Not the best-ranked, but you have to go through a portfolio review. It’s a popular major over there. UCI seems to be a good option as well; the department seems well-funded. There’s also UCD… [U.C. Davis Art Studio Alumni Directory](<a href=“Art Studio - UC Davis Arts”>Art Studio - UC Davis Arts) UCSB could be a good choice too if you apply to the College of Creative Studies. They give their students access to their own studios.

I’d suggest that you apply to all the schools that offer it and see what happens. If you’re willing to go to a private institution, the ones the above posted are good choices. I know CCA has transfer agreements with some local community colleges.
