Is Princeton a college I could look at if I'm thinking about a career in sports med or statistics?

I’m open to many different careers I would like to work with sports though.

To my knowledge Princeton does not have a kinesiology or exercise science concentration. Many students do go on to apply to med school via the pre health track https://www.princeton.edu/hpa/premed/ There are also engineering students and others who go on to med school provided they have taken all the required courses. In terms of statistics, the best concentration would likely be ORFE https://orfe.princeton.edu/Research/statistics

Why don’t you tell us why you’d consider Princeton in the first place? What DOES attract you about it? It takes quite a bit of effort to apply to one of the schools with the lowest admit rates extant. If there’s something about PTon that really grabs you then apply. The fact that you may want a career in sports should be secondary, if it’s about applying to a school like PTon.

For instance, I was manning my school’s table at a College Fair, answering questions. I’m an alum volunteer for Yale. A young lady, with an armful of brochures from every college stopped by and asked:" How is Yale’s television production program? I’m really interested in television production."

At that time, I said I really didn’t know but that students who were involved were likely very superior and Yalies tend to put everything they have into their ECs. She said “Okay! Grabbed a brochure and left”

I’m pretty sure she had no idea what Yale’s mission was or what it was looking for in its applicants.

I think the advice above is dead on. It is fruitless to apply to any school if you don’t have reasons for seeing yourself there, at least in a bare minimum capacity. That’s not to say you must adore every school on your list, but you should have concrete reasons for applying.

For Princeton, they’d better be damn good reasons, since you’ll have to labor over essays and bring a pristine narrative to your app in order to have even a fraction of an infinitesimally small chance. If you find yourself searching for hours for small fragments of reasons as to why you should apply to Princeton, and the best you can find is ‘because it’s selective and prestigious and it’s an ivy and I want to say I got in to a school with a low acceptance rate and it will look good to employers when I graduate and US NEWS says it’s #1’ then you should really save your $65 and hours of stress and waiting, because those are superficial reasons that won’t create an effective “Why Princeton?” essay and will get you discounted for your lack of authenticity.

Good luck to you, and I hope you find a broad list of schools across the selectivity index, each with the ability to fulfill your educational needs and with the capacity to help you flourish as you deserve to.
