Hello parents! Sorry I’ve been on hiatus, I have spent the last month working as a Summer Orientation Leader at SSU. But now I’m back…at least until August 7th when fall training for RA starts.

I’m thinking about using some of my Summer O money (it’s quite a large pay) to buy a PlayStation 3…I have a PS2 and a Wii, but I’m ready for something new (and after about 10 years, I have a feeling the PS2 is starting to fizzle out).

The problem I’m having is that most stores don’t have any in stock except for refurbished versions. Are these just as good, or should I avoid them?

If the warranty is the same as the warranty on a new one, it ought to be safe. I bought my DH a refurbished iPod 6-7 years ago and it is still going strong.

If the company warranties new items for 12 months and refurbished for 90 days then I wonder, because if they fixed it up, “good as new” then why don’t they warrant it ‘good as new’?

I have bought refurbished stuff from Amazon and been very happy with my purchase. It comes delivered clearly marked as refurbished and in different packaging, but warranty is same as new and product looks new to me. If the playstation comes with a warranty like new, then I would not hesistate to buy, at a discount. I wouldn’t pay new prices for refurbished.

My kindle 2 said “factory refurbished” and I haven’t had any problems with it. It came in original packaging and looked just like new. I read that it was likely a display item or broke and was repaired by the manufacturer.
