Is San Francisco's fog a thing of beauty?

That is in the eye of the beholder, but this might change the mind of the occasional visitor:

Enjoy!

Thanks, xiggi, that’s a beautiful film!

I am sorry, living in it is not beautiful and out right dangerous.

Some how, the fog is thinner in recent years, perhaps more people moved in, 30 years ago, Dad took my brothers to Skyline College for a class, they got lost, could not find the entrance to the college and returned home empty handed. It was only a 4 mile drive from our house.

The fog in Daly City:

During the summer months it is there all day…
During the winter months it is there all day…

That’s beautiful.

Fog is LOVELY to see but scary and dangerous to be out driving or walking in, especially when it’s so heavy it’s hard to see at all. You don’t want to stop but you don’t want to drive without being able to see where you’re going. It can cause some horrendous and deadly accidents.

When we’ve seen the fog in SF, it has been when we don’t have to drive in it and can just watch it roll in or out, sometimes walking short distances in it without car traffic. It’s pleasant for short stretches then.

Beautiful from afar…preferably from a sunny deck in Tiburon or Sausalito with a bloody Mary in hand. I lived in that stuff for the first 2 decades of my life and found it depressing.

Definitely puts it in a different perspective. Very pretty.

Good link. Fog is fun to watch from afar.

We loved going to Pebble Beach in July for two weeks when my D was horseshowing. It was cool and foggy which was perfect weather for the riders and horses!

We got hit with thick fog the day after we arrived in San Diego for a two month stay in Point Loma. Being unfamiliar with the streets, we had to rely on our Garmin to tell us how soon turns were coming up because we couldn’t see the street - like flying blind. We had waterfront seats on Harbor Island for New Year’s Eve dinner and the fog lifted over the water at 11:45 so we could see the entire skyline. But we still needed the Garmin to get back to our rental!
