Is she telling the truth about fall 2010 admissions

so i called the admission rep to ask some question and she tell me that for fall 2010

GPA-4.00
SAT-1920
Percent accepted: 44.9%

do you think this can be true?

im suspicious for 3 reasons.

one isnt it too early to comply admission stats? dont most college wait until after SIR deadline to tell stats.

second i think the SAT score increase is way to big be true. fall 2009 the average was 1887 isnt 30-40 points in 1 year seem high?

thrid is gpa, how come the SAT goes up by alot and admission rate goes down but GPA stays the same?

on the other hand i think is is great the the admit rate only went down around 1.5% this year as opposed to the 5-7% decline the past 3-4 years :)

No.

Take it with a grain of salt.

I got into UCD with a 3.8 weighted/3.4 unweighted, and an 1810 SAT, with 680/610 sat ii scores.

Know this one fact: College admissions is very unpredictable.

It can be true, but you never really know how the admissions officers decide. You can guess with your stats and obvious factors, but they may consider something about your application you’d never think of.

^exactly what maylix said.

You may possess a special trait that will attract yourself to the admissions officers.

which makes admissions all that unpredictable.

@FutureENTSurgeon

I think she’s fibbing.

This is because there are simply too many davis applicants for the mean of the accepted students to shift 30-40 points in 1 year.

Also: I don’t think the SIR deadline matters because they do it off of admitted students, and don’t mention the actually attending students. Many students accepted with above 4.0 will go on to attend the top 3 UCs.

wow you guys are really making me less nervous because i was actually starting to get real nervous anyone care to give me admission chances?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/907814-chances-only-one-school-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

idk if she’s lying, but it could be plausible. after all, i think this class was the largest class to graduate, and UC admissions have become even more stringent than before.

just apply. : P and stop being such a neurotic premed.

you might get in, you might not. college admissions, like everyone’s been saying, can be incredibly arbitrary. i had a friend get rejected from UCD with a 2280 SAT, 3.8 UW GPA (and she took like, 5 AP classes). crazy right?

the #s came out, shes not lying.

^Where are the numbers for all the UC’s?

Got it.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-general/908302-fall-2010-admission-rates-released.html</a></p>

There we go:

latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/04/uc-freshman-admission-rate-drops-a-bit-more-than-10000-waitlisted-.html

I don’t know where the GPA and SAT scores are, but admissions rates are here for all campuses.

[University of California Office of the President](http://www.ucop.edu/news/studstaff.html)
[UC California freshman admissions for Fall 2009 - University of California Office of the President](http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/fall2010adm.html)

The UCs compile preliminary numbers after the admission decisions come out. The final adjusted numbers come out toward the end of summer that account for actual enrollment.

Thanks for the links guys

so for Fall 2010
GPA- 4.02 (Yikes)
SAT- 1902
Acceptance rate- 44.5%

one thing that was funny is that UC Irvine’s acceptance rate actually went up 3% and UCSB went down 7%

^From the emails they gave us. All UC’S had increased applicants, but SB had a tremendous amount of applicants this year. Acceptance rates cannot say which school is better, especially when they are that close. Still depends on major and department.

But, just analyzing SB. Lot of people with bad stats apply there (party school rep), more applications with bad stats= more rejections= lower rate of acceptance.

Davis still has the better overall stats of the mid tiers. SB made the biggest jump.

@ENT
you’re wrong about SB, very wrong.

UCSB-
so for Fall 2010
GPA- 4.10 (Up from 4.01 last year)
SAT- 1909 (up from 1877 last year)
Acceptance rate- 42% (down from last year)

mancini the stats i posted were for davis. i just made a comment about UCSB and UCI at the end of my post

http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2010/freshman_admit_profile_2010.pdf</a>
Nope. 4.01 GPA = average at UCSB for admit, 4.02 = average for davis.
Average ACT for davis = 28, average ACT for UCSB = 27.
1902 vs 1882
47.9 A-g vs 46.7
So yeah…small differences but davis is still top atm.
Not sure where you got your stats from.

Mancini’s stats were from UCSB’s press release which include all applicants, while the Freshman Profile only includes California applicants. I don’t believe Davis has released stats for all applicants/admits.

Way to bump a 2 week old thread

i know i am about to revive a 2 week dead thread

considering people getting off the UC Davis waitlist how much higher do you guys think the acceptance rate is going to go up by?
