Is SkillsUSA a prestigious program?

We have a club named SkillsUSA in our school and there is something called Related Technical Math in it. So I thought if I compete and won state and went to nationals would that be prestigious for this program. Though I have heard its good for most technical schools. So does it mean anything for schools like the Ivy League , MIT or Stanford?

If you like this club, and this activity, go ahead and do it for that reason.

If you are only considering it because you think it might help with admission at a specific group of colleges, don’t do it. Your extracurricular activities should be things that you enjoy.

From the website: SkillsUSA is a national membership association serving high school, college and middle school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel.

So i would say that this is targed toward students who will work in “trades”, not students going to MIT.
But if it is something you enjoy, then do it. You may learn speaking skills, etc.
