Is smart phone a must for law school?

Heyo parents! I believe that I have not consulted anyone here for help in a number of years…so here’s hoping the CC sages are still around.

I am preparing to send D1 to law school this week and am faced with the usual dilemma of how much support to offer with expenses. Anyone out there with a law student who would like to comment on cell phone? Is a smart phone a must? Could she get by with her cell phone? She is looking at $100 monthly if she takes it on herself, my phone bill will go up by $50 if I choose to take it on. I am on a fairly tight budget and am not interested in shelling out the extra money. I actually cringe monthly when I pay for the 4 phones in this house which are mostly used as text message machines.

DD is certain that she will be receiving urgent emails during her schoolday that will need answered and feels that computer access will be limited. Thoughts appreciated.

She is paying for school with scholarship and loans.

Depending on whether or not her campus has WiFi, she could get by with an iPod touch if her concern is checking her email. Although, I’m only a high school student, so it might be better to wait for some other opinions. :)

rchhay- she does have an iPod touch! I think that is the answer:)

Good heavens, how did law students exist before the days of smartphones?

No - a smart phone is NOT a must for law school. Final Answer, Regis.
