def not a fan of cigars

I wouldn’t date a smoker either.

Based on this thread, I’d say that the majority of rapists are probably smokers…

uhm w t f ?

I would. There are always those perfect moments in old films where the girl has a cigarette but no light, and the boy lights her cigarette for her. (sigh)

As long as you remember that lung cancer has one of the highest mortality rates of any cancer.

i don’t smoke personally.

I smoke socially…that’s okay right?
right.

I smoke probably a Djarum a day; I don’t smell like it.
For some reason being tall dark and semi-handsome along with smoking a black cigarette looks incredibly cool. I don’t fight it.

I love Djarums.

You wouldn’t wipe out cigs? No one would know it was you; it would just happen if by your snap. That’s odd. Hell, I would even wipe alcohol off the earth, that way so many friendships, abuses, drunk drivers and deaths could be stopped. These drugs are descriptive and destructive. The elimination of these drugs outweigh the costs (the costs would be “drunk fun times”) since hundreds of thousands of innocent lives would be saved. You would save hundreds of thousands of lives if you did. What’s the reason behind your decision? Do you really think people need them to relieve stress or (gasp) to look socially acceptable?

I mean that it is a sole detriment in the sense that it doesn’t serve any other purpose other for which they were originally designed. What you say here shows irrelevant playing in the sense that you’re skirting around the issue:

LOL. Goodness. Maximizing corporate profit? What the hell does that have to do with your health?

Yes they are, according to Harvard Public Health, buddy.

Get your priorities right.

As far as I know, there was a mistake in understanding words when Tobacco was introduced 7000 years ago. During Mahabharata War, the soldiers would sleep on Herbal Malapatra/ Thalapatra so that they would be relieved from the pain they had in previous day and get freshness. In Periplus of Erithrin see, Periplus mentions about this. this periplus visited India in first century. The persons who later on read this mistook the body heat as a heat created by fire started burning this tobacco.

“For some reason being tall dark and semi-handsome along with smoking a black cigarette looks incredibly cool.”

Hahahaha.

I personally love my hookah…and…other forms smokable contraband.

I wouldn’t date a smoker because of the fact and that’s harmful to not only myself but to you also. I dispise smoking.

It think its a turn off, but not neccessarily bad enough to decide simply not to date someone who does it.

“You wouldn’t wipe out cigs? No one would know it was you; it would just happen if by your snap.”

No, I wouldn’t. It’s neither in my, nor the governments place to tell me what I can or cannot do as an individual. Insofar as others are not harmed.

“That’s odd. Hell, I would even wipe alcohol off the earth, that way so many friendships, abuses, drunk drivers and deaths could be stopped. These drugs are descriptive and destructive. The elimination of these drugs outweigh the costs (the costs would be “drunk fun times”) since hundreds of thousands of innocent lives would be saved.”

Guess we should wipe out cars and modern industry too, while we’re at it? Stop advocating a paternalistic stance.

“You would save hundreds of thousands of lives if you did. What’s the reason behind your decision? Do you really think people need them to relieve stress or (gasp) to look socially acceptable?”

Again, you’re thinking in terms of potential lives saved, not actual. The reason people smoke is irrelevant.

“I mean that it is a sole detriment in the sense that it doesn’t serve any other purpose other for which they were originally designed.”

Again, arguable.

"LOL. Goodness. Maximizing corporate profit? What the hell does that have to do with your health? "

You yourself stated cigarettes are marketed in a manner specifically to introduce people to addictions. My point was that it’s not limited to just one industry.

I’m not talking about worldwide figures, buddy. I’m talking about data pertinent to the country you and I live in.

i guess things are pretty different in the south, most guys (including myself) enjoy at least a casual cigarette and plenty of girls do. What’s the big deal? I guess some girls like to feel self-righteous about not dating a big bad smoker

Someone’s been digging in the thread graveyard.

Smoking is so pointless, I feel like everyone whom I ask “Why are you smoking, don’t you know it’s really bad for you” instantly become the dumbest people in the world by responding like

-I don’t do it too often so I’ll be fine
-I’m sure it doesn’t do that much harm
-It’s relaxing (you could be relaxing for 10-20 more years if you don’t smoke at all…)
-It’s just one cigarette, why don’t you just leave me alone

Basically things in the spur of the moment that the bad side of their brain tries to use to convince the other smarter mind that it’s okay.

Why would you want your body to get addicted to nicotine? Why not just take up chocolate instead, lol? There are so many things to do at a party other than binge and smoke. Most people dont’ realize that alcohol turns your liver and brain into a deteriorated state if you do it too much. But smoking, not at all, I hate even smelling it through second hand smoking.

I really wish the government had some other way to make up the $200 billion + it gets from taxes from cigarettes. How about a clean energy system that uses wind and solar, then you save 10x that money long term and you can ban cigarettes.

^ Lol I always found it kind of unnecessary when people add the “don’t you know it’s bad for you” to their queries for smokers. They’re addicted, not stupid.

I’m a teenager…why not?

And RahoulVA, why don’t you just leave them alone? If what other people do unnerves you so much you SHOULD just **** right off.

I know smoking is pointless, bad for you, and repulsive to some people, yet I’ll still have one. Life’s short, smoke up.

Smoking is pretty much the dumbest lifestyle choice you can make. It’s like doing drugs without getting high. If you’re going to be stupid and waste away your health, at least do it with something worthwhile.

Also, smoking affects you now, not just 40 years down the line. Compare the lung capacity of a smoker to a nonsmoker. A nonsmoker is in much better physical shape by simply not smoking.

3 joints a week is the equivalent of 16 cigarettes a day
