is sports allowed in the no sports section

on the application, it says to not include sports in a specified section… I was wondering, since my tennis team is somewhat crucial to my leadership section if I could still put it there. I think the leadership section is the one that specifies it… regardless, I would like to include it somewhere on my app. Would that be ok with the Admissions, or would they be upset if I seemingly disregarded the rules?

The reason I really want to find a place to put it is that I founded the tennis team at my school.

Isn’t there a section in the app for this?

If your stuff will fill up the sports section and then founding the tennis team spills over, then by all means find a way to reorganize such that it fits. You don’t want to leave “Sports” empty, and put your tennis stuff in the school and community activities section. (I don’t think that the school section says “no sports”.

A little creativity is fine, and shows that you’ll find a way to get the job done. Too much creativity or a re-write of the form will make you appear unable to follow directions. :-)

For example, you could have a category of “Service” under which you listed several items, or “music” and listed a couple groups. You definitely want to distinguish yourself from the people who are in an activity, yet have nothing to show for it in terms of accomplishments, officer positions, etc.

GPBurdell, you seem to know a good bit about tech, do you know if I am allowed to apply for Tech by their Presidential Scholarship deadline and still aply SCEA to Yale? I tried to figure it out, and from what I gathered you can apply to another school early if you do Yale SCEA only when it is rolling admissions or by a scholarship deadline… is this correct?

Actually, anyone whi is willing to answer please do. I got to find out soon i suppose…

That’s a question for Yale. Tech’s early admissions aren’t binding, so Tech doesn’t care.

You may consider why one school is seeking to limit your options. Is that in your best interest?

That seems like a rather silly way of looking at early admissions. If you really want to go to the school, then its a great opportunity since the odds are better (a bit). If you aren’t 100% about Yale, then you shouldn’t apply right now. Yale wants to give the former group a better chance.

As far as I know, I don’t think Georgia Tech Pres. App counts as early action. I know Stanford has something like this and applying to both wasn’t a problem.

Good luck on your apps.

Of course you can apply to Yale SCEA and GTPS. SCEA says you may apply to local public schools early, at least when I was applying.
