I really want to get these 2 clubs started at my school b/c I’m truly interested in them. They’re really different than the fbla/deca other crap clubs (no offense). I don’t want people to think that I’m doing this for college b/c I’m really not. I want to start these clubs to raise people’s awareness about events around the world.

It’s only a bad idea if you’re doing this only to impress colleges. Also, if both clubs would raise awareness of world events, why not just start one club to do that?

Firstly, I don’t know why you’re calling clubs like FBLA “crap”. What’s the matter with them? Plenty of students really are interested in the subject matter, and some school do take them seriously and really train the students.

Northstarmom is right as usual – starting a “Yay for College” club at the end of senior year is going to look like you just want to add “president” on your application. Starting a real club and implementing something for the following years is something totally different. I started a club my senior year, and it certainly didn’t count against me; even without it, I would have been fine in the EC department.

I think your primary concern should be whether you have the time and energy to devote to creating TWO new clubs at once. Starting anything – club, event, organization, company, religion
– requires not just time but energy and creativity. You’ll need to really think about where you want things to go, how to get new members, to advertise, activities, planning… it might be more realistic to concentrate your energy on just one. Just something to think about.
