Is summer really important? *research especially

<p>I attend a year round school.
Thus, my summer is only 6 weeks long.
I had a lot of Student Body stuff to do (this is huge at my school)
I also visited a bunch of colleges on the east coast(I live in CA)
I am also not a permanent resident. Unable to work legally.</p>

<p>SO Unlike a multitude of other CCers, I was unable to do any internships or apply to most summer programs because they did not end by july 21st, which is when school starts for me.</p>

<p>Does this hurt my chances?
Because I read through a lot of RD decision threads for top schools</p>

<p>and almost 90% of you had research internships or work experience of some sort!

<p>it would be tough, but couldn’t you always try a research internship during the school year? If this would be too much on top of everything else, I’m sure colleges will recognize your unique situation.</p>
