If ur taking Chem 210, is it worth taking the Honors option with the SSG to get that “H” added to your transcript?

I know its 2 extra hours every week with extra assignments. But does it help when it comes to doing well on the Orgo exams? Or is it just meant to explore Orgo in greater depth?

Should I do the SLC study group, SSG, or both of them?

I took it for the H (fairly worthless), but the extra assignments kept me on pace, since I don’t have the personal motivation to do anything that isn’t graded. Also, if you lack the motivation to make lecture regularly, the SSG leaders do a pretty good job of teaching, though you should remember that they are still undergrads.

But did u believe the assignments and SSG group helped?

Like did it prepare you for the exams better than the others or was it just exploring additional topics in Orgo?

How did it compare in helpfulness to the SLC groups?

I’m not the best to ask, since I never went to discussion and rarely went to lecture. So the assignments definitely helped because I wouldn’t have done problems without them, and the actual SSG helped because I would have just read the book by myself.

For the specific SSG assignments, some of them felt like busy work and less relevant at the beginning, but it got a lot better after the first few weeks.

I’ve never done an SLC group, but they’re a mixed bag depending on whether the study group leader follows the SLC approach (bad) or does their own thing (good).
