Is testosterone a main cause of the world's problems?

What do you think?

that’s a stereotype and borderline sexism.

What is your response though?

Begin I must by telling you I am not joker of any kind, type, or origin.

Not, with this premise thus established, I implore you to communicate to the CC public what you believe the “world’s problems” to be. If, in your mind, sex or children are the world’s problems, testosterone may be at the root of these problems.

However, if you travel the more Populist Road and call world hunger, poverty, and AIDs to be the crux of the world’s problems, well, your question makes little sense. Might you elaborate? The cause of world hunger, poverty, or AIDS may simply be attributed to the selfishness, in my opinion.

My response…as I thought it was fairly obviously implied by my last statement, is that this “question” is ridiculous. This thread is a waste of space and time.

I will not accept that, smallz. I asked a yes or no question, so you should response should be either. In assuming that my question is borderline “sexism,” you are the one who is being sexist. In my first question, I never referred to the level of testosterone that one has. Men have testosterone, but so do women. Does every added ounce of testosterone in the body correlate with heightened levels of predisposition towards competition and violence?

Now that you have introduced the biological sex issue, I will repeat my question: Is testosterone a main cause of violence? As you know, violence (which includes genocide) is one of the world’s problems.

Does a high level of testosterone predispose a person to be more competitive than cooperative?

Is competition (in the drive for money) or cooperation closer to being a cause of corruption?

You make no sense. Testosterone is just a natural biological part of human beings. Asking if testosterone is the cause of the world’s problems is like asking if endorphins or neurotransmitters or the small intestine is the cause of the world’s problems.

If you want to talk about competition or corruption, ask about those directly instead.

saying that testosterone is the cause of all problems is like saying that hormonal women are more likely to commit crimes than those who aren’t (while statistically true; it is scientifically incorrect)
People are what’s wrong with the world; not their secretions!

My testosterone SOLVES the world’s problems, thank you very much.

So do you think that if we somehow engineered the next generation of humans to have little or no testosterone, the world would be a better place?

Maybe, but then we wouldn’t have anything to argue about. And competition is fun.

GoldShadow ended this argument

Absolutely. A perfect world would be made up entirely of unshaved lesbians who reproduced through a process of genetic recombination and cloning. They could worship the mother goddess under the stars and dance freely, sharing their love and unselfish ways with the next generation of beautiful hippy nymphs. God, I get hard just thinking about it. I’m ready when you are, you crazy, radical feminists! **** Testosterone and **** fashion magazines! Lets start a commune!

actually it would be rather androgen

Actually, yeah

Capitalism, anyone?

ummm… all people have testosterone, some just have more. haha

“Testosterone is just a natural biological part of human beings.”

In post #6, I elaborated on the question of whether having high levels of testosterone predisposes that person to be more violent than one who has a lower level of testosterone.

Hormones are just another excuse people use when they screw up. Just something else to cast blame onto.

Hey all- what is your reaction to the following study whose findings I cite below?

<a href=“Psychosomatic Medicine”>http://www.psychosomaticmedicine.org/cgi/content/abstract/59/5/477

“CONCLUSION: Testosterone is related to criminal violence and aggressive dominance in prison among women, as has been reported among men. Changes in these behaviors with age are in part explained by a decline in testosterone levels.”

However, this is only one study. Have scientists reached a consensus? And if so, what is this consensus?

LOL @ Sinnic’s post

who is testosterone (the MALE horemone) “related to aggressive dominance in prison among women.” ?
