<p>i’ve been working on my common app essay for cornell and have been getting it checked here and there…i recently got comments on maybe adding specific examples to each point i make. that sounds like a good idea, but at the same time i feel like i’d be writing a formal english/lit paper rather than an admissions essay. plus, i feel like adding examples might be “beating around the bush” and i might lose the point im making in the essay.</p>

<p>I would add examples if you make a statement that seems baseless or strange, or if you have a really good anecdote. But honestly, I don’t think it’s really necessary.</p>
