Is the Academic Index Calculator Changing?

I read in the New York Times that Ivies are changing the way they calculate academic index for prospective students. Instead of averaging your reading and math scores they average your reading and writing and then average that new score AGAIN with your math. They still average your two highest subject test scores. Probably the biggest change is that they’re moving away from using a class rank and are looking strictly now at your unweighted GPA as they would calculate it. Can all of this be true? If so then my AI would increase substantially (from a 229 to a 237) since I go to a competitive private school where achieving a high rank is more difficult, and having a small-size graduating class only hurts you by the old standard. Would someone be able to confirm this? Thanks a bunch!
